Portrait Planning Help

Q: Which is Better, Sunsets or Mornings?
A: They are both great, it really depends on the look you want for your pictures.  The mornings give a brighter more tropical look, they also tend to be less windy. The sunset session offers a more orange/warm light and the opportunity to have a Maui sunset in the background. We recommend mornings for families with small children.  Kids are usually more focused in the morning and have more energy.  It can be tough for kids to play in the sun all day, then stay focused for up to an hour and a half when they are hungry for dinner!

Q: What is the Best Location for our Maui Vacation Portraits?
A: There are many great locations on Maui! To start, take a look at our Portrait Locations Page. We have our most favorite spots for portrait photography listed there. Our photographers can also meet you at your hotel, condo or vacation rental house. TIP: West Maui locations are near the resort area of Kaanapali. State laws dictate that we may not shoot on Kaanapali Beach, that is why it is not listed. South Maui is near the resort area of Wailea.  We generally prefer South Maui as the beaches are larger and tend to be less crowded, but the West Maui beaches are just as scenic!

Q: How many Pictures do you take in a Maui Portrait Session?
A: There is no limit to the number of pictures we take during your photo session, the amount you receive in your final collection depends on your package selection.

Q:How can we pay for our Photo session?
A: We accept cash, travelers checks and all major credit cards, the balance of your session less the deposit will be collected in person on the day of your session.

Q:How soon can we view our Photos?
A: You will get a preview of your photos (about 10-15 images) on our blog about a week after your portrait session. Your full collection of edited photos will be ready to view on a private proofing website within 3 weeks of your portrait session and your digital delivery of high resolution files will be sent to you at that time.  Turnaround time may be longer in peak times.

Q: How do we get our high resolution images?
A: Once your photos have been edited and uploaded to your proofing website, we will send you your high resolution files via email.  You can download the images to your home computer and enjoy them immediately!

Q: Who will be taking our pictures?
A: One of our 2 fabulous photographers will be assigned to you based on availability. If you have a preference for a specific photographer, you can list it in the notes section of your booking form and if they are available we will assign them to you.

Q: What if it rains?
A: Luckily this does not happen very often in the locations I usually work in. The first option would be to re-locate your shoot to an area of the island that is not raining.  If your session gets rained out, we can try to re-schedule at no additional charge, if your session can not be re-scheduled  your booking deposit will be refunded.
